Sometimes people can be so cruel. A long time ago, I read a story about a handicapped girl who was so tormented by her classmates, that she felt no choice but to take her own life. The story motivates me to think before I speak or act - I hope when you hear "Rhinestone Dreamer", you'll feel the same way, because it's difficult to know how much you can hurt someone with your words.
Shrieks of laughter reach my ears
I try so hard to stop the tears
Tears can only make things worse
But why do I deserve this curse
Man, I wish that I could fight
Stand up for what I think is right
The anger inside stabs my dream
It wells up till I want to scream
Just a rhinestone dreamer
The cruel cruel pain tears at my heart
I know they're all just playin' parts
But that don't matter, they're still there
And I pretend like I don't care
Those words are knives that cut me deep
Till this blood's too cold to keep
And in the dark I pray tonight
I want some strength, the will to fight
Just a rhinestone dreamer
I can't take it anymore
I don't see what I'm here for
Why should I be put through life
When every single day's a fight
I think that I'm just gonna leave
And be out of my misery
If anybody's there who cares
Be aware that I'm not scared
Just a rhinestone dreamer
